Ayurvedic treatment for PCOS and PCOD in Chennai in Chennai

Cycle, weight and skin are one problem, and treating them separately is why it keeps coming back.

What it looks like: Cycles that are late, missed or unpredictable; Weight gain around the middle that resists dieting; Acne along the jaw, or unwanted facial hair; Hair thinning at the crown; Ultrasound reporting multiple follicles.

Ayurveda reads PCOS as a Kapha-dominant metabolic disorder with obstructed Vata — heaviness and blockage in the channels, with the cycle disrupted downstream. That framing matches what endocrinology finds: insulin resistance driving the hormonal picture. Which is why treatment aimed only at the cycle tends not to hold.

The metabolic layer is treated first. Udwarthanam — deep dry powder massage against the direction of the hair — is the classical therapy for Kapha-type obesity and is the backbone of the plan. Kashaya Vasti addresses the Vata obstruction. Internal medicines, a diet plan built around insulin resistance rather than calorie counting, and a movement plan run throughout. Yoni Prakshalanam is used where local symptoms warrant it.

Typical course: Three months is a realistic first horizon; cycles are reviewed monthly.

When to see a doctor first, not us: Heavy bleeding with dizziness or breathlessness, or no period for more than three months with a possibility of pregnancy, should be assessed by a gynaecologist first.

Common questions

How long before my cycle becomes regular?
Usually two to three cycles before a pattern is visible, and the plan is reviewed monthly against that. It is slower than a hormonal tablet and it works on the metabolic cause rather than overriding the cycle.
Can I take this alongside metformin or the pill?
Yes, and many patients do. Bring the prescription. Any change to it is a decision for your gynaecologist, not something to do on your own during a course.
Will I be seen by a female doctor?
Yes. Consultations are with Dr.V.Vaitheeshwari B.A.M.S., whose clinical focus is women's health, and therapies are carried out by female therapists throughout.
